The Parents, Friends and Teachers Association has supported Bower
Grove School for over 40 years now. Our objectives are to
provide links between the school, the parents and children and the
wider community as well as to raise money for the school.
We are linked to the Parents Support Group, which meets
every other Thursday morning with guest speakers, advice, projects,
social mornings and an occasional night out. All parents,
ex-parents and friends are welcome, as are parents of children in
any other school who might be looking for support or help. For
more information click on the "Parents support" tab above.
The PFTA provides school sweatshirts for the
pupils to purchase as well as Bower Grove Book Bags and waterproof
PE bags. A computer ink cartridge
recycling service, a mobile phone recycling service, and a newspaper and cardboard recycling
service are also in place. We have supported the design and purchase of Bower
Grove mugs and during the last year have even sponsored a goat at
Buttercups Goat Sanctuary! The PFTA have also authorised the
purchase of Memory Autograph Books which are now presented to all
year 11 school leavers.
The committee consists of parents, friends and staff of the
school and we meet about 6 times a year on a Monday evening to
organise quiz nights, discos, raffles and draws, the summer fete,
jumble sale and Christmas fair. We are always interested in
events other organisations have found to be successful and we are
always interested in new members if you would like to support the
school. This past year we have also supported the Grand Summer
Ball as well as the school's Arts
Week.
In 2006/2007 the fundraising focus
was to purchase ICT
and Technology equipment throughout the school. We have also supported the children's
Christmas parties and events.
