FOR FAMILIES OF CHILDREN
WITH SPECIAL & ADDITIONAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
MEETINGS OPEN TO ALL SCHOOLS
Bower Grove Parent Support Group has been running over 20 years and is now seen as a key support for the wider community. We welcome all parents/carers of children with special & additional educational needs, autistic spectrum conditions and any disability, with or without a diagnosis; professionals are welcome too. Our meetings are open to all schools in the Maidstone and surrounding area.
We aim to listen to parents, teachers and agencies to provide as much information and support as we can while working in partnership with parents and professionals. We have accrued a host of specialist speakers, linked up with outside agencies and many experts, including the teachers and therapists at Bower Grove School. We offer free information sessions and workshops: these include talks on Behaviour Strategies, Anger Management, Distraction and Diffusion Strategies, Health, Autism, ADHD, Communication and Interaction, ASD Practical Strategies, CAMHS, Social Stories, Sensory Circuits, Speaking and Listening, Speech and Language, Benefits and much more.
Regular newsletters are provided with updates, information and a synopsis of key meetings held. There is a information section on the Parent Support page covering a wide subject area with key links, local organisations and SEN information. There is also a direct link to the KCC Local Offer.
We meet regularly, mostly on Friday mornings 10.15am - 12 noon at Bower Grove School; occasional evening meetings are also held. Dates appear in the Bower Grove Parent Support newsletters and on the website. Please join us at our next meeting with a 10.15am start for coffee. For more information please contact the school directly or email Josephine Cousins at firstname.lastname@example.org
