NEWS FROM THE GOVERNING BODY- July 2019

I can hardly believe that another academic year has come to a close but the lovely weather we had at the recent Sports Day tells me it must be summer. Like all of you; Governors have enjoyed following the pupils on their trips and residential outings via our Facebook page. I would just like to take this opportunity to congratulate the pupils on the exemplary behaviour they display when they are out representing our school and to acknowledge all of the hard work and commitment that our staff team put into making these trips possible. Governors enjoyed meeting so many people at the hugely successful Summer Fair and the Sports Day where we were happy to provide cool refreshments to you all on such a warm day. These fund raising efforts are bringing us so much closer to welcoming our Therapy Dog onto the team.

It has been business as usual for the Governors this term with a full round of meetings and visits to the school. We too are ready for a summer break and we would like to wish you all a safe and pleasant summer - we look forward to working with everyone again from September.

Good Luck to all our 2019 leavers - we are sure you will all shine in whatever you have chosen to do next.

Fingers crossed for Results Day!

News from the Governors - October 2019

This first term of the academic year is always a quite formal one for Governors where we must assess the strengths and gaps in our team as well as electing the Chair and Vice-Chair. I am pleased to share that I am continuing in the Chair for another year and will continue to be supported by Howard Law as Vice Chair. We have said goodbye to Mrs D Smith who has decided to stand down from the Governing Board for family reasons and have welcomed Mr J Marshall as a new co-opted Governor. Mr Marshall is a member of the support staff team and will bring some good experience to the Board. We have a vacancy for a co-opted Governor and would be pleased to hear from anyone who may be interested in finding out more about supporting the school in this way.

Of course this first term has been very different from others in one way - members of the Governing Board took part in the Ofsted Inspection in September. On behalf of all the Governors I would like to say that we were incredibly proud to receive the Inspection feedback and hear all the great things that had been recognised by the inspectors. The OUTSTANDING judgement is well deserved by everyone within the Bower Grove community and we would like to thank our Head Teacher, the staff and pupils for their hard work not only during the inspection but every single day.
