NEWS FROM THE GOVERNING BODY - February 2018

It does not seem possible that this term is over already - it has been an incredibly busy term for school and Governors. Of course, the Ofsted visit was a highlight and Governors are absolutely delighted with the feedback we received and wish to congratulate the whole school community on this achievement.

As I said, Governors have been busy this term with meetings of the Finance, Strategy, Learning and Behaviour teams as well as visits to school. I particularly enjoyed spending some time with our Enrichment group.

I have also been busy working with the KSENT Trust and Bower Grove recently played host to the Governor Forum which is a chance for Governors from all 24 special needs schools in Kent to come together to discuss matters affecting our schools and pupils as well as sharing best practice ideas.

We have also welcomed a new Governor to the team, Jo Law, and we very much look forward to working with her in school next term. I hope you all have a safe and pleasant break.

NEWS FROM THE GOVERNING BODY - March 2018

News from the Governors - 2018 has been rather an eventful year so far. From a very positive (and promising for the future) OFSTED inspection to periods of arctic temperatures and lots of the white stuff that the children enjoy. The school obviously had to close for a few days but all credit to staff and volunteers who ensured the school was back up and running as quickly as possible.

Last week was also eventful for me as at a recent Full Governing Body meeting I held up my hand to becoming vice chair. Don’t worry says Alison you won’t be called upon for ages. Fast forward 36 hours and I’ve been asked to pen these few words as Alison is away enjoying a very well earned break. Someone else who also deserves a break is Annette Scott who has decided to stand down as a Governor after 6 years. Annette’s association with the school goes back to 1989 and has included periods as Deputy Head. The Governors and all associated with Bower Grove are deeply indebted to Annette for her contributions to the school and we hope she continues with an attendance at various events throughout the year.

Have fun over Easter and don’t eat too much chocolate (not sure if I’m aiming this comment at pupils, staff or parents/carers).
