NEWS FROM THE GOVERNING BODY- February 2019

Governors have been pleased that we have not had any severe weather so far this winter and are keeping our fingers crossed that this will continue to be the case when we return after this break.

It has been a busy start to 2019 for us with team meetings for Finance, Strategy and Behaviour in school plus a District Briefing from KCC which included some information on post Brexit difficulties that may be encountered. Personally, as Chair of the Kent Special Educational Needs Trust (KSENT), I have been doing some work on setting up our Stakeholder Membership Systems which will include pupils, parents/carers, staff and governors. Bower Grove will be taking part in a pilot for this system in the new term and you will receive information at that time.

Hopefully, you will have seen the letter that went out on 6th February regarding a vacancy for a Parent Governor and I very much hope you will consider volunteering to join our excellent team, to support the school in its aims. If you would like more information or to arrange a chat with me please contact our Clerk to Governors, Mrs Kitchener in school. On behalf of the Governors I would like to wish all our pupils, their families and our staff a safe break and look forward to working with you all next term.

Alison White ~ Chair of Governors

NEWS FROM THE GOVERNING BODY- April 2019

This term Governors have been in school for meetings and monitoring for Behaviour. We also enjoyed meeting a lot of families at the Parents Evening and would like to thank everyone who completed a questionnaire for us. A few governors also enjoyed watching Bower Grove take part in the KSENT music event at The Vine Church in Maidstone - as usual it was wonderful to hear all the children from the various schools in KSENT playing music and singing together. Like many of you we were delighted to see all the photographs from the residential trip on the School Facebook Page and I would like to thank all the staff involved in making this such a special trip for the pupils. We had one of the highlights of our Governor Year at the end of this term with our Governor In Day on Wednesday 3rd April. This is an opportunity for all Governors to come in to see the staff and pupils at work, to chat to everyone, to do some training and enjoy lunch with the pupils. This time some of us have also taken the opportunity to visit our satellite at Westborough. Thank you to all the pupils and staff for making us so welcome. On behalf of governors I would like to wish all our staff, pupils and their families a safe break and look forward to working with everyone next term.
